Central Area Activities Report July 2015

Siddeleys at Walsall

It all started late June with the Broadwell House Charity Day for the Air Ambulance. We were invited by the Rolls-Royce Enthusiast Club to participate in their annual Charity Day, which includes a picnic followed by a driving test against the clock on a pre-marked course. This was great fun and a chance to slide the Siddeleys around on the grass, although unfortunately no prizes were won.

The next event was an afternoon at Rainsbrook Valley Steam Railway in Rugby. We were joined by our friends in the Coventry TSSC Club and proceeded in convoy, 11 cars in all, to Rainsbrook Valley. We parked up and enjoyed a picnic prior to taking to the trains and reliving our childhood in riding all the different engines. Lionel Hudspith let all our members drive his Steam Engine. What a great experience! A great afternoon was had by all.

Steam Engine The following day we were off to the Walsall Transport show held in the arboretum in Walsall. Although not a good start to the day weather wise, it picked up and we had a good day with a lovely display of Siddeleys. There were a vast range of vehicles on show together with auto jumble and craft stalls.

We finished the Month's activities with our Monthly Gathering, at the Three Horseshoes, Princethorpe Nr Coventry. We had 16 members enjoying a good pub meal and putting the finishing touches to this year’s National Rally.
